Issues of Developing Trade Relations Between Tajikistan and The EU Discussed in Dushanbe


Avesta.tj – The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, Zavki Zavkizoda, met the day before, on February 23 in Dushanbe, with the Deputy Managing Director of the Department of the European Union’s Foreign Service for Cooperation with Russia, the Eastern Partnership, Central Asia and the OSCE, Luke Devin.

According to the press center of the Ministry of Economic Development, in 2022 the volume of trade turnover between Tajikistan and the European Union amounted to $490.2 million, which is $53.7 million, or 12.3% more than in 2021.

During the meeting, issues related to accelerating the process of accession of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Generalized System of Trade Preferences of the European Union (GSP+), attracting more funds to the national economy, and implementing the EU Indicative Program in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2027 were considered.

It was emphasized that within the framework of the implementation of the Indicative Program for 2021-2027, priority should be given to the areas of green and digital economy, artificial intelligence and e-commerce.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation, the report says.
