Saudi Arabia to Provide Assistance to Residents of Tajikistan Affected by The Disaster


Avesta.tj –  The King Salman Support and Humanitarian Aid Center of Saudi Arabia will provide humanitarian assistance to the affected population of Tajikistan during natural disasters this winter, as well as to vulnerable populations, totaling $1.5 million.

The corresponding document was signed the day before, on February 23 in Dushanbe between the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Tajikistan and the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan.  

As the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Tajikistan Walid ibn Abdurrahmon Ar-Reshaidon noted, the project will be implemented at the expense of the Center for Support and Humanitarian Aid of King Salman. The purpose of the project is to provide emergency assistance to residents of Tajikistan affected by the disaster. The project will be implemented jointly with the CoES of Tajikistan.

The cost of the project is $1.5 million. Stoves, warm blankets and coal will be provided to the victims. In total, more than 49.5 thousand people will receive assistance.  

The Food Basket project in Tajikistan for 2023 was also signed. According to this project, this year, together with the Red Crescent Society of Tajikistan, food baskets will be distributed to those in need.

The food basket includes flour, vegetable oil, rice, salt, pasta, legumes and tea. The total cost of the basket is $160,000. The food baskets will be distributed among 2,760 needy families in the Khatlon region.

The Saudi Arabian Ambassador also said that the King Salman Support and Humanitarian Aid Center approved the implementation of the 5th phase of the school construction project in Tajikistan.

The cost of this project is $20 million. The timing of the project will be announced later, said Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Walid ibn Abdurrahmon Ar-Reshaidon.
