Freshman Grant Feldman Leads Men’s Golf at Prestige


LAQUINTA, Calif. — Freshman Grant Feldman led the Creighton men’s golf team at the Prestige, which wrapped up Wednesday in La Quinta, Calif.

The Bluejays won 21st of 24 teams in an event that included some of the best programs in the country, including two of the last three NCAA Tag Team Champions. Creighton’s three-round total of 916 (307-295-314) was four shots better than Nebraska (307-307-306=920) and also ahead of Cal Poly (927) and Princeton (930).

A freshman from Austin, Texas, Feldman finished tied for 64th with rounds of 75, 73 and 78 for a total of 226. It’s the first time in five events this season that he leads Creighton for an entire tournament.

Junior Shaun Campbell rebounded from an opening 80 with loops of 71 and 77 to tie for 78th place. Transfer graduate Tristan Nelko tied for 90th after scores of 74, 76 and 81 for a total of 231.

Junior Charlie Zielinski ranked 104th after three consecutive rounds of 78, while second Owen Mackin closed tied for 109th after home runs of 80, 75 and 81 for a total of 236.

Pepperdine, the 2021 NCAA champions, won the tournament with an 844 under 8, which beat Texas Tech by six strokes and 2019 national champion Stanford by 13. Medalist honors went to Ludvig Aberg of Texas Tech, who used rounds of 67, 70 and 70 to finish 6 under and edge Pepperdine’s William Mouw (65-71-72) by one stroke.

The event took place on PGA West’s Greg Norman course, which measured 7,100 yards on the par-71 course.

CU is back on course March 13-14 at the GCU Invitational in Phoenix, Arizona.
