Kazakhstan and Bulgaria Strengthen Interregional Ties

At the invitation of the Bulgarian side, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan Viktor Temirbaev paid a visit to the second largest city in Bulgaria – Plovdiv,  DKNews.kz reports.

At a meeting with the Mayor of Plovdiv Z. Dimitrov, the interlocutors noted the special role of interregional cooperation in the progressive development of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties, and also discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda. In particular, in order to build up bilateral relations at the interregional level, special emphasis was placed on establishing twinning ties with the third metropolis of Kazakhstan – Shymkent.

In addition, Ambassador V.Temirbayev informed the interlocutor about political, socio-economic reforms as part of the political renewal of state institutions of power in our country.

In turn, Z. Dimitrov expressed his commitment to the development of interregional relations with Kazakhstan, assuring him of his continued support for initiatives to further strengthen mutually beneficial partnership.

In order to implement the agreements reached during the Kazakh-Bulgarian business forum on April 26, 2023, V. Temirbayev visited one of the largest economic zones in South-Eastern Europe, the Thracian Economic Zone (TEZ). At a meeting with the Founder and Chairman of the Board of the TEZ, Plamen Panchev, the Kazakhstani diplomat spoke about the investment potential, state support tools for foreign investors, including the benefits of doing business in special economic zones (SEZ) and industrial zones (IZ) in Kazakhstan. In addition, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation and considered the possibility of interaction with Kazakhstani SEZs in terms of exchanging experience in attracting foreign investment and advanced technologies.

Concluding his visit to Plovdiv, in order to better familiarize the Bulgarian public with the Kazakh literature and language, Ambassador V. Temirbaev donated more than 30 fiction books, collections and brochures in Bulgarian, published with the participation of the Embassy, ​​to the People’s Library of the second largest city in Bulgaria.

Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria and one of the leading economic and industrial centers of the country.

The Thracian Economic Zone, founded in 2013, has a total area of ​​more than 10 million m2 and unites 6 industrial zones (Maritsa, Rakovski, Kuklen, Plovdiv Industrial Park, Plovdiv Technopark and Kaloyanovo Agricultural Center), more than 10 industrial parks. Currently, more than 200 companies and 3 billion euros have been attracted to the TEZ with the creation of more than 50 thousand new jobs.

The Ivan Vazov People’s Library was founded in 1879 and has been open to readers since September 15, 1882. It is the largest public library in the country and the second largest book fund in Bulgaria.
