Billa Bulgaria Invests 2.6 Mln Euro in New Store

Supermarket chain operator Billa Bulgaria, part of Germany’s REWE Group, said on Thursday that it opened a new store in the southwestern city of Blagoevgrad after an investment of 5 million levs ($2.7 million/2.55 million euro).

The store, Billa Bulgaria’s largest in the country’s southwestern region, will create 40 new jobs, the retailer said in a press release.

“BILLA Bulgaria is currently experiencing a strong upswing and is undergoing active expansion, with the number of our stores in the country surpassing 150,” CEO Vygintas Sapokas said.

The Blagoevgrad store covers an area of 900 square metres and has 60 parking spaces.

Last week, Billa Bulgaria opened its 56th store in Sofia. The Austrian-based supermarket chain operator has been active in Bulgaria since 2000 and employs more than 5,200 people.
