Government of Kosovo approved on May 25 the draft Defense Strategy of the Republic of Kosovo.
Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, said that this document will define the main objectives for the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Armend Mehaj said that this strategy was drawn up based on state interests.
“The objectives of the defense strategy have been drawn up based on state interests. Considering that this strategy offers the main direction to face the risks to Kosovo, I recommend you for approval”, he said in front of the government cabinet.
In October 2022, the Assembly of Kosovo approved the Strategy for the Security of Kosovo, 2022-2027.
The Defense Strategy is one of the guiding documents for Kosovo’s security architecture, in relation to allies, partners and experts in the field of defense and security.
Meanwhile, the Republic of Kosovo is welcoming 25 partner countries with over 22,000 soldiers for “Defender 23”, where the army of the Republic of Kosovo is also ready to join the big NATO family through training and programs.
In this context, Minister Armend Mehaj has shown that he knows how to run a complex institution like the Ministry of Defense, delegating tasks and showing responsibility in the exercise of the high state office.
According to the polls published by the Center for Perceptions in Research of the International Republican Institute (IRI), the Kosovo Security Force led by Minister Mehaj is the organization with the highest level of credibility on the part of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. The Kosovo Security Force is also perceived by citizens as an organization that fully fulfills its constitutional mission in guaranteeing citizens’ security and territorial defense.
Among other things, Minister Mehaj has shown that he has carried forward a patriotic duty of honoring the families of the martyrs for freedom of the KLA soldiers who fell in the battles for the liberation of Kosovo. He has visited hundreds of families commemorating the sublime sacrifice of the best citizens of Kosovo
